DLA Piper Joins the Canton Foundation as an Associate Member

November 2, 2026

Global law firm DLA Piper brings legal, regulatory, and financial markets experience to support the evolution of institutional digital asset infrastructure.

The Canton Foundation is pleased to welcome DLA Piper as an Associate Member, bringing additional legal and regulatory experience to the growing community of organizations shaping the future of institutional finance on the Canton Network.

As financial institutions increasingly explore tokenized assets, digital settlement, and blockchain-based market infrastructure, the need for legal clarity, regulatory alignment, and common industry standards continues to grow. DLA Piper’s participation will help strengthen collaboration between legal practitioners, financial institutions, technology providers, and other stakeholders working to address these challenges.

Connecting Legal Knowledge with Financial Innovation

DLA Piper is a global law firm with extensive experience advising financial institutions, technology companies, and market participants on complex legal and regulatory matters.

The firm is also actively involved in industry initiatives advancing tokenized financial markets. In September 2026, DLA Piper joined the Legal and Resilience action groups of the UK’s Wholesale Digital Markets Champion initiative, helping support the development of tokenized wholesale financial markets.

Through its Associate Membership, DLA Piper will contribute to the Canton Foundation’s collaborative governance and standards-development activities.

Supporting Institutional Adoption and Collateral Mobility

DLA Piper’s anticipated involvement includes the Foundation’s Collateral Subcommittee, legal and regulatory workstreams, and relevant standards-development initiatives.

These efforts address practical questions facing institutions adopting tokenized financial infrastructure, including the legal treatment of digital assets, collateral mobility, interoperability, settlement processes, and regulatory compliance.

The Foundation’s Collateral Subcommittee brings together participants from across financial services and market infrastructure to develop common approaches that can help tokenized assets move more efficiently between institutions and applications.

DLA Piper’s participation will add an important legal perspective to these discussions, helping ensure that emerging technical standards and market practices consider the requirements of regulated financial institutions.

Looking Ahead

The Canton Foundation’s mission is to support the Canton Network through neutral governance, open collaboration, and industry-led standards.

Welcoming organizations with specialized legal, regulatory, and market knowledge is an important part of that mission. As institutional blockchain adoption advances, bringing together diverse perspectives will help the ecosystem address both the technical and legal challenges of operating financial markets on shared infrastructure.

We are delighted to welcome DLA Piper to the Canton Foundation and look forward to its contributions to the Canton community.
